What is GA?

The Gregory-Aland numbering system is a method for organizing and identifying Greek New Testament manuscripts. The system is based on the manuscript's material, handwriting, and function.

How it works:

Papyrus
Manuscripts written on papyrus begin with the letter "P" followed by a number. For example, P52.

Uncial
Manuscripts written in uncial (majuscule) letters begin with the number "0". For example, 032.

Minuscule
Manuscripts written in minuscule (lower case) letters are assigned a regular number. For example, 1.

Lectionary
Manuscripts that are liturgical begin with the letter "l" followed by a number. For example, l358. That’s not the number “1”.

The system is used in the Kurzgefasste Liste, which is a German term meaning "short list.” The list is a reference tool for studying the New Testament. If you check out this website, you might become a fanatic for manuscript studies.

FLOYD & CHRISTINE

Frozen truck battery. Minus 10 degrees. Chewy couldn’t go to the bathroom outside because the snow and ice froze his feet before he could find a place to go or to finish.

Christine is sponsoring a “Doldrums Day” party in March at our house for lots of ladies who find March a very dreary time of year. I will be exiled to my office the entire day. At least she will feed me.

Christine has become a master at building fires in our wood stove. A neighbor is selling us more wood at a low price. He’s also helping us cut it down to “stove size.” Another neighbor is giving us free kindling because his business produces lots of scraps.

“Men’s Night Out” brought in over 60 men to listen to the Gospel and discover that one of the major businessmen in Plains is a strong believer.

The church is starting the book of Hebrews on February 23. I’ve been given the first sermon: Background and Hebrews 1:1-4. Fun.

Christine’s designing and sewing potholders and giving them to everyone has gone ballistic.

Her latest novel is in its final stages. Four ARC (Advanced Reader Circle) friends have finished their edits and returned their manuscripts to her. She’s still looking for a title. Potential publish date: later spring.

I’m finalizing a book on world religions to go along with all the blogs I’m posting leading up to a book on Cross-Cultural Communications.

Is having this much fun a sin?
