Floyd's Stories

Warning: These stories are not guaranteed to be super-spiritual, deeply theological, or even mildly educational. Some of them might accidentally teach you something useful—like how not to get arrested in the Balkans or why Austrian plumbing has a personality disorder—but that’s purely coincidental.

Most were born because my high school and college students kept begging for “just one more story” instead of doing actual work. Turns out verbal novels are highly addictive. Consider this your official permission slip to enjoy them without guilt, take notes only if you feel like it, or just sit back and laugh.

You might find yourself nodding along thinking, “That’s exactly what happened to me!”
You might also find yourself thinking, “Why am I still listening to this guy ramble about a 1972 VW bus with a bad case of wanderlust?” Both reactions are normal and equally valid.

If you happen to remember some wild tale from our shared history that I’ve clearly forgotten (I’m 78 and the memory is getting selective), please tell me. I’d love to hear it again—preferably before I turn it into a completely different story with extra drama and possibly a talking goat.

In the meantime, buckle up, lower your expectations of constant life lessons, and just enjoy the ride.

May your coffee stay hot, your laugh stay loud, and your tolerance for old missionary anecdotes remain high.

Now… where was I? Oh right. Enjoy!
